unmentiaonables make a difference

One of the things I do through the years is to measure my life parallel to my mom's. What was she doing at my age and stage? There are just too many funny underwear stories, and now I can laugh at myself, because I am truly becoming MY MOTHER! When I was born she was super thin. Growing up I remember the fabulous clothes in her closet (from her single and then young married days) and how I really would have liked to play dress-up. The only problem was, I was NEVER a size ONE!! As she bore more children and was happy in her home life she started to gain weight. A few pounds here and there and soon she was pretty heavy. She began investing in HARD CORE underwear and I remember us kids laughing and rolling on the floor of her bedroom when she tried to ease and squeeze and pour and pull and push herself into those long line girdles! Once she got her legs in it was like watching a sumo wrestler as he gets ready for a match.

So, I have been thinking lately that it would be a good to invest in some new underwear. Mothers are very self sacrificing, but in my life I don't think it feasible to stay in the same bra for umpteen years--not any more, that is. Put on one of your oldies, choose a fitted sweater top and look at yourself first frontwards and then catch the side view and you will see what I mean. Since I'm cleaning closets and drawers, this is what I've done on one of my little breaks. I tried on one of the newbies and BOY OH BOY there is a difference. I feel a tad more confident. When I lift my shoulders and hold them up and back THE GIRLS just look so much better and they over-power that pooch thing that used to be my flat stomach!

If there is no hope of losing those 20-50 extra pounds, at least I can by good underwear so I feel a little better about my BOD!!!
